To the entire Nepalese Living in Greater Baltimore 5/7/07
Sub: Personal statement: Why I did nominate my candidacy for General Secretary of BANA?
Respected members,
I am extremely delighted to register my nomination as General Secretary for BANA, the only Nepalese Umbrella Organization founded for the help of Nepalese communities in Maryland . Most humbly and respectfully, I would like to express my sincere appreciations and gratitude to the BANA’s founding members.
Of course, I am more than happy to be member of this great organization. We must, and we shall, set the ride running for the help of Nepalese living in Baltimore and a pool to Nepal. And this organization, with its every work, every word, and every heartbeat, has a single destination, and that is Happiness of the Nepalese living in Baltimore. Now failure has been cementing our birth’s place’s economical, educational and overall social condition. Now, we Nepali living abroad understand the value of nationality, work and ,action. We all are cultural ambassador and can help our country in different fields of our expertise. The unity should be our most elementary and fundamental purpose in our organization which can be exemplary to our nation too. Moreover, history of our country shows us, truth is all the time determined by excessive power. Most of Nepal governments are being motivated and run by some unknown force in past and present. Every leader keep on saying decentralization, however, they create their own center. We Nepali living abroad can see this as more-much more- than the result of mere poverty. Who knows? Therefore, it is our duty and responsibility to start debate to free our country from hegemonic power of big nation like India. And I needn’t remind you- but I will that BANA should be the hope of Nepali in the days ahead. For this long term goal, every BANA member must, and will keep our eyes open and guard up. It is a goal far, far more meaningful than everything, and all inspiring. In my vision of a good and decent future of BANA, there must be room, room for intellectual debate, and talent of the every Nepali individual. If we fail to catch up, believe me, we will be a just another organization among so many.
Today, as then, but more urgently and openly, to help Nepal in educational sector is a must. Anyone who joins us in all our sincerity from every part of globe, we must and will welcome. I have special passion for this cause. I believe that every Nepali child has got potentiality, and every family in Nepal can succeed. And I needn’t remind you- but I will- a dollar can buy 60 pencils and 10 sharpeners for our students in Nepal.
Now, I am young energetic critic, and instructor at Homeland Security and Baltimore Community college. After completing my Master degree, I started teaching in different colleges of Tribhuvan University and Purbanchal University. I taught in graduate and post graduate level for three years. I have written series of school text books which are prescribed in school syllabus in Nepal. In spite of teaching, I fully dedicated myself in the field of writing literary criticism and volunteering in different social organization. Therefore, the issue of education in Nepal is close to my heart. Nepalese children born, raised, and migrated over here want to learn about their cultural ancestors. On the other hand, their parents also cannot go to their land of origin due to different reasons. The need of exploration of new avenue for our children is necessary to ease them in many ways. If not they will have cultural trauma and will be just like metaphor of trishunka described in Hindu mythology.
The world of globalization became possible, which proposes, improved provision for managing common interest of people. As a result of it, whole the world changes to small village of different cultures. The cultural issues started getting rousing reception elsewhere, more importantly, in America. In today's world, culture has become a defining principal of identity. For the same cause, getting your confidence, additionally, I will strongly coordinate and help President
On the top of everything, the following agenda will be directed towards community services:
Establish permanent BANA office.
Co ordinate entire Nepalese organization existed in Maryland.
Help Nepal government in its educational field being in touch with educational expertise in Maryland state.
Establish strong sense of oneness among Nepali communities in Maryland.
Counsel, guide Nepalese student studying in Maryland State in coordination with local college and universities.
Propose the local government body to recognize Drum Castle as Nepali village.
Celebration of Nepal day in Maryland.
Establish Nepalese school.
Help needy Nepalese parents in gathering information about their child progress from their respective school and suggest accordingly.
Establish of free medical service to needy Nepalese.
Establish contact office in Katmandu for good communication among family members of those who are living in Maryland. And, provide exact scenario of American life before coming to USA along with legal advice to those who are planning to come to Maryland State.
Launch program for the familiarity of Nepalese children among each other.
Motiveate Nepalese government for dwell citizenship
Being Loyal to the BANA’s constitution, I will perform each general secretarial work in co ordination with its president with my ability possible. I have, thus, keen desire to be General Secretary of BANA.
I am proud submitting my nomination for the post of the General Secretary. I will match my agenda with president’s agendas and vision if I’m elected. I request Nepalese communities living in Baltimore to help me in this project. The reason is we’ve been establishing a Platform, and we have to accomplish a lot in the days to come. Let’s do few things and do them well. I am looking your complete trust on me in forth coming BANA general convention.
Again,
And I needn’t remind you- but I will- a dollar can buy 60 pencils and 10 sharpeners for our students in Nepal.
With due Respect,
Yours Sincerely,
HB Bhandari Prabhat
